I had the opportunity to do a photo shoot with three wonderful best friends who are all turning 16 this summer. We traveled around St. Louis and the girls were nothing short of fantastic. They were outgoing, willing to try different things and gave me tons to work with.
I was delighted when I was asked to photograph Carina heading off to her very first prom. She was a lot of fun to shoot and willing to play around. We were a little concerned her date might be too shy to really get into it, but he played right along, resulting in some entertaining shots.
In March my husband and I had the pleasure of heading to the great northwest to see my best friend and her new baby. While there we went on a walk through a park and visited some waterfalls. Nature is quite gorgeous in Washington/Oregon.
From time to time I like to play with different settings to see what I can capture. This is a collection of photos I’ve taken of flowers around my house and around Columbia, MO.
On New Years Day, my family and I enjoyed many games of Blockus. The colors on the board and the different shapes inspired me to pull out the camera and get a couple of fun shots.
I greatly enjoy watching fires and the changes in light and color as the embers glow and logs burn. I grabbed my camera and played with different setting to see what I the fire would give me.
I learned about the Mid-Mo Photographer’s group and thought it sounded like a great opportunity to meet other photographers and learn more about photography. During my first meeting with the group we had a lesson and shoot with fireworks. One of the members taught us which settings to use, how to focus and about shooting in bulb mode. The manager of the group also has a fireworks business on the side, which meant we had the opportunity to go out and practice what we learned.
When the holiday season started to come into focus, my husband and I decided we would do something crazy: Invite his entire family and my parents to our house for Christmas. This was expressed as a one time only offer. We were considered insane for offering, but it didn’t stop most people from accepting. His mother’s entire family came and so did my parents. Our house had 18 people in it for a few nights before everyone scattered again to head home or on to Kansas City to see the rest of the family.
